Over the last two years in 2022 and 2023, Years 3 and 4 have been involved in projects with the Ribble River Trust. We particularly enjoyed the "Trout in the Classroom?" Project. We started off with 100 brown trout eggs in our trout tank, over time, we nurtured our trout eggs and watched them develop into fry (young fish), observing each stage of the trout's cycle. We were able to release 16 trout into Knuzden Brook, where they will continue on their journey.

The project was a mix of being outdoors at our nearest river source and classroom-based workshops. A firm favourite was the indoor Freshwater Micro-Safari, where the children identified invertebrates living in their local river and why they are so important.
